Did you know that as many as 1 in 6 couples struggle to conceive a child naturally and many of them require some form of fertility treatment? Did you know that infertility is not just a woman’s issue, as commonly believed, and is actually due to the man in 30% of cases? If you were aware of these statistics you are in the minority, as fertility is still considered quite a taboo subject.
It’s worth pointing out that if you have been trying for a baby for less than a year without success, you probably don’t have to worry yet. 90% of couples are able to conceive naturally within two years, if they are having regular unprotected intercourse, so don’t give up hope yet. If you have been trying for longer than two years then it might be time to seek treatment. There is no shame in undergoing IVF or other types of fertility treatment so don’t be afraid to contact a professional.
Perhaps if people were more educated about fertility and what might affect their ability to conceive, such as an unhealthy diet and other poor lifestyle choices, IVF patients wouldn’t have to suffer in silence. Others may change certain behaviours as a means to increase their own chances of successful conception. With all this in mind, you might find the following infographic helpful as it contains some surprising information about female fertility!
